Chapter Five: Wilderness
Having scoured the village for clues our heroes sat in the inn deciding on where to travel.  A final decision was made to clear out the troubling zombies from the Old Well; then the Orcs from the Tor and head home after visiting Agatha at Conberry.

We loaded up with supplies from Lionshield and purchased a mule to help carry the supplies.  Myandir also picked up a new cloak which Rance was able to afford a glowing Sword.  Setting off along the Triboar trial next morning there was a long discussion about what we should name pack animal.  A  decision of calling him Harbin, after the useless town master, would mean that there was finally someone of value with that name!

Apart from the rain the first days travel was uneventful but during the second day we heard sobbing off to the side of the road where an Ogre was crying into a small towel.  We thought of sneaking away but the creature spotted us and charged.  A foolish decision as he was quickly cut down.  In his pockets all we found was a crumbled note from his partner saying he was leaving as he had found someone else.

Wet and weary we looked for somewhere to camp and found a small cave in the hills.  Not living up to his name Bearkiller fed the current occupants, a she-bear and her cubs, and we were both able to make an uneasy alliance to share the cave for the evening.

Near dawn we were disturbed as another bear like creature tried to get into the cave.  This one had the face of an Owl.  Perhaps the Old Owl Well has not been named after flying fowl!  As Myandir was on watch he interlocked his fingers in an arcane gesture and sticky webbing appeared trapping the creature in place.  Bjorn and Rance were awakened by shouts.  As the creature pushed its way forward Rance threw ball bearing down on the ground causing it to once again fall over.  Some well placed blows from Bjorn's great weapon killed the beast.  Its body was rolled outside to be left for the bear to eat.  While the others went back to sleep Myandir summoned unseen servants to collect the ball bearings from the floor.

On our third day we arrived at our destination of Old Owl Well.  We could see a ruined tower still standing and a large tent set up in the main courtyard.  We approached cautiously Myandir using his new Elven cloak to camouflage himself against the tent.  Bjorn strode forward towards the tower and a swarm of zombies staggered out growling and started to attack. A tattooed Wizard of Thay rushed out of the tent and blasted Bjorn, the only person he could see, with lighting.  Clearly marking himself as a threat the rest of the party focused their attacks on the red robed figure.  A bouncing ball of fire and a swift stabbing from Rance quickly left the mage dead.  Bjorn wadded through the Zombies proving himself a true great-weapon master with Rover, the flaming sphere, following behind burning away any Zombies he did not fell.  Rance took a few minor wounds but soon the sounds of battle ended.  We had acquired a beautiful tent and some more trinkets for our collection.  Among them was an ancient ring from Netheril which will offer us protection should we be able to unlock its power.
