Behold the Wizard. Beware his powers, unspeakable powers!

Wizards in Fifth Edition D&D. I have always been a fan of Wizards in games as they are the ultimate expression of being a fantasy character.  Manipulating arcane power to blast away opponents or control them with mind alternating effects. In the latest D&D game our Wizard class has eight sub-classes, or schools, to choice from Abjuration, Conjuration, Divination, Enchantment, Evocation, Illusion, Necromancy or Transmutation.  Some of them, such as Illusion are really powerful at high level but three of the schools stand out to me as ones I would want to play from low level all the way through. School of Abjuration Eldritch Knight Abjuration gives us a mystic ward that absorbs damage before we take it.  Two hit points (HP) per level actually gives up 50% more hit points, the same number as a Fighter.  We can also 'heal' these hit points by casting spells.  The character I want to play with this is a Battle Mage striding into combat in plate armour swin

Dungeon Crawling Fools Episode 22 Background A lot of my friends starting playing Dungeons and Dragons with the Moldvay and Mentzer editions back in the eighties. D&D Quest: Session Two The Party Arden De Vere, Bard of Apollo: Half Elven Noble who disguises himself as human. Magrig:  A hulking half Orc Barbarian with a fetish for Axes. Fyonar: An Elven Mage who has spent the last 90 years cloistered away learning arcane arts. Medrash: Dragonborn Paladin who wants to learn about Druidism. Kara: Human Scout and sharpshooter. The Story We left our heroes fighting the Sea Hags minions.  Magrig charged after the Hag but she was too slippery and was able to escape with the egg of the Merfolk Queen.  She triggered a trap that collapsed the passage way behind her. The Half-orc turned back to see his friends being battered by the Merrow.  He threw a javelin impaling the monster as it back handed Arden.  Medrash stepped up and smashed his flail into its thick hide and, with the help of a few arrows, it finally toppled to the floor. During the battle the captive sailors we had rescued fled and we had to search through the caves to

D&D Character: Myandir Silveroak

Name: Myandir Silveroak High Elf Urban Bounty Hunter. Level 1 Cleric of Selune, Goddess of the Moon then 19 levels of Wizard. Str 8 Dex 14 Con 13 Int 16 Wis 14 Chr 10 Concept I really like the Hypnotic Gaze power of the Enchanter Wizard.  The idea of casting a buff spell on the first round and then hypnotizing the Big Bad Evil Guy (BBEG) while the party clears out the minions is appealing. Split Enchantment at tenth level is a free Twin Meta-magic spell for all your 'save or suck' spells making them more useful as well.  Now if you are going to play a Wizard who is putting himself into melee combat you need to get some armour.  The best way to do that is with first level in either Cleric or Fighter. Background Myandir was an orphan who was raised by the church of Selune.  He spent much of his youth wandering the library reading books on magic and history.  He joined the church militia and worked as a bounty hunter tracking down those who had stolen scrolls from the
