WFRP Chapter 88: Rat Trap

Image
Summary:  Loose ends cause a bother . Our Heroes Madoc (David) - Human Friar of Manann [ Poseidon ] Flendac (Kris) - Human Master Assassin Tayy Whitethorn (Michael) - Halfling Trainee Assassin  Zena (Oliver) - Human Artillerist Chapter 88 ~ Anyone remember the Skaven? Having sailed back home on Cpt Jameson barge we worked on sorting out Silavan's will.  Turned out are timing was perfect as Michael Stich was down from Nuln to do the same!  Flendac managed to convince him that he was part of the secret slaanesh cult and got the deeds to the docks without a fight. After that we went to see Dagmar to let her know Asterellion had put a bounty on her head.  We flatly refused to help her kill the War-dancers but when she offered us 5000 crowns to deal with the Skaven vermin we decided to give that a go. We knew there were too many for us to take them all out at once but thought we might be able to sneak around and deal with a few to reduce numbers.  Seeing a c...

WFRP Chapter 86: Let Me Rest In Peace

Image
Summary: Silavan meets a sticky end... Our Heroes Hayley (Elliot) - Human Duelist Madoc (David) - Human Friar of Manann [ Poseidon ] Tayy Whitethorn (Michael) - Halfling Trainee Assassin  Zena (Oliver) - Human Artillerist Rubinifer (Rob) - Human Outlaw Chief Chapter 85 ~ Let Me Rest In Peace As we were preparing to leave on our hunt Asterellion came and offered us a 2000 crown bounty on Dagmar.  He had finally discovered she was the one responsible for selling Elven antiquities.  He also though she was in league with the Skaven which was why he was outsourcing the job. Having made a decision to hunt Bronzino's War band we ignored his offer and headed off along the road to Serrig.  Unfortunately we made it all the way to the next city without finding them! Looking for accommodation Rubinifa bumped into Captain Jamerson.  She mentioned that all boats heading west were being attacked and offered to hire us for protection.  Making a deal for life long free pas...

WFRP Chapter 79: Back to Basics

Image
Background: Helping Dagmar since we were doing the task anyway! Our Heroes Hayley (Elliot) - Human Mistress of Magic Flendac (Kris) - Human Master Assassin Tayy Whitethorn (Michael) - Halfling Trainee Assassin  Zena (Oliver) - Human Artillerist Rubinifer (Rob) - Human Outlaw Chief Chapter 79 ~ Back to Basics We repainted the first of the two carts as Kreutshofen Mill and passed it, and the horse, over to Jim Miller to look after.  As the mill owner we can always borrow it when needed.  We made plans to load the other one up with food for the Orcs and take it back through the pass while we hunted for the Great Gobbo.  There is also a chance we could get a reward from the Lamar trading company for returning the other wagon.  Tayy also mentioned that Rickard had opened a local branch giving us somewhere to spend our gold on magical items.  Unfortunately we were all poor after our long trip away and were not able to make use of his opening sale. While making o...

WFRP Chapter 75: Intrigue (part deux)

Image
Background: Intrigue means finding work for a master assassin... Our Heroes Hayley (Elliot) - Human Nobel Morgan (David) - Human Battle Mage Tayy Whitethorn (Michael) - Halfling Trainee Assassin  Flendac (Kris) - Human Master Assassin Chapter 75 ~ Day two Our breakfast was once again interrupted this time by Marcel telling us the local news that eight men had tried to mug Andy Dufranne and he had defeated them all.   After breakfast we went to check out the jobs board and saw that Jurgan Klopp was wanting help.  Given he was on our list this seemed a good opportunity. He offered 50 crowns to recover a ring with a Liver bird design that he said has been stolen and donated to the temple of Mann.  During our conversation our city of origin came up and we discussed our mutual ally, Silavan.  Having convinced Jurgan we were part of the inner circle he offered us 1000 crowns to make sure Andy Dufranne was found dead.  We also found out he was voting in favo...

WFRP Chapter 65: Burning down the house

Image
Background: Raiding the, supposed, empty warehouse of a chaos cult ... Our Heroes Morgan (David) - Human Battle-Mage Ragnar (Oliver) - Human Outlaw with Foe-cleaver a killer Axe Tayy Whitethorn (Michael) - Halfling punching-bag (and spy) Faefiel (Elliot) - Cold as ice Elven Targeteer Chapter 65 Cult leader Lamar was dead and Tayy had the bright idea to go raid the warehouse where he stored all the cool tools he had taken when he had killed Morgan's friends. Heading back through the winters teeth pass with checked in with Maruge and let the Orc's know Hernan could return home.  Arriving in Mortensholm we got ourselves a room at the Winking Tiger inn; popped to the shops to buy some more armour and then headed on over the Lamar warehouse. Using his magical cloak Morgan strode in pretending to be Thomas Lamar and fooled the men working there.  Then the voice of Mr Van Horst called out for us to come upstairs.  It seems Mr Lamar's mysterious boss was actually at the wareho...

WHFB – Vampires!

Image
A little late to the party but I finally got to read the new Vampire Counts army book. I thought it was about time I got back to writing something so I thought I would start with my thoughts on the book. Overall it has some nice additional optionals including a Master Necromancer who can lead your army so you no longer need to try and balance points for a warrior-wizard Lord. Vampires got a small boost with the ability to occasionally, 1 in 6, heal if they kill something in melee. Skeletons & Zombies got cheaper, wolfs now count as core although Ghouls got more expensive. Unlike Tomb Kings Undead still get to march (if within 12” of the general). Which given there lack of shooting is something they really needed. Magic I find it quite amusing that the new lore attribute for Vampire magic is the same as the lore of Life; you get to heal a wound for each spell cast. Vampires already have seven spells so they did not gain any more. Although this does mean that Vampires th...

Happy Warhammer-day Tyler!

Image
Last weekend was my friend Tyler's 40th birthday. So he got together with Will, James and myself for a day of Warhammer. We booked a couple of tables at our local shop Tabletop Tyrant  . We decided to play the same mission on each table and rolled for random opponents; first round was Dwarves vs Undead and Empire vs Empire. Background From behind the curtain Shareth watched the Baron. Despite being completely in her thrall he still had a commanding presence. She watched as he marshalled the troops and prepared their commanders for tomorrows battle. If only the assassins blade had found its mark! His accursed younger brother had escaped from the castle only a week ago and already men flocked to his banner. For centuries she had plotter her revenge for the death of her father at the families hands. She was not going to let one whelp ruin her plans now. She felt the blood lust rising. She could feel the heartbeats across the room; pounding in her head like a drum. Al...

Undead Project: Raising the Dead

Image
Horde of Zombies! My wife is at work; My 1500 word paper is written; Cassandra is playing with her train set. I actually have a few hours to play with my toy soldiers! Of course by the time I had got myself set up on the table, my assistant has given up playing trains and is trying to hack one of the sprues apart with the pliers... Mantic's Zombies Each sprue has parts for three full zombies and two bits allowing you do make four possible zombies from each sprue. There are 10 sprues in a box although I had an extra one as an appology for a shipping error they made. Mantic had said the zombies would be compatible with their ghoul range so I decided to see about mixing a few ghoul parts into the horde and see if I could make forty zombies from a single box. Sadly the size of the hip joints on the ghouls is not quite the same as the zombies so the parts do not mix very well together. At least the meat cleaver and other spare weapons from the ghouls where useful in addi...
