The Story

Watching our herbalist fly away we had some time to explore the area before returning to the city of Icehaven.  Trecking east across the moor we kept our eyes open for more monsters.  All we saw though was a old stooped man walking slowly.  His name was Willoby.

Having given him a lift to a small cottage where he and his wife, Raynar, lived a stranger appeared as we were building our camp fire and told us the couple were cursed.   They had to try and recover the Crown of the Wanderer from a barrow that only appeared each autumn as the veil between worlds grew thin.  We agreed to try and find the crown and the stranger warned us that the warlock Black Biana would come in the morning to try and steal it.

Heading across the moor we spread our horse out wide to cover as much ground as we could.  Luckily Aylysaia saw the shape of carved stone entrance in the side of hill.

It was a tight space but we were able to crawl inside and found ourselves in a large cavern where the ghosts of many elves danced.  On the far side were two thrones on which sat the mummified king and queen both wearing crowns.

As the crowns were removed one of the dancers turned and screamed at us, the rest faded from view.  Arden, Ghesh and Alysaia fell to the floor as the banshees scream echoed through their heads.  Kara quickly used a healing potion to get Arden and Alysaia back up.  Arden called upon Apollo, his god, who healed Ghesh.  The two warriors charged into battle with the sorcerers slinging spells to support them.  A few mocking works from Arden stopped the creatures chilling touch from doing much harm and the spirit was soon laid to rest.

Staggering triumphantly back to Raynar's cottage we set up camp and waited for the warlock.  As dawn arrived so did Biana's minion a mighty hill giant towering over the cottage and demanding the crown.  We lured him forward by agreeing to give over the crown and as he approached Ardens whispers caused him to stagger away in fear letting the warriors get in a critical first blow. He charged back towards us swinging his club at Magrim but the raging barbarian easily shrugged off blows that would have flattened others in the party.  Bolts of fie and ice, and Kara's arrows too, joined the blades hacking at the monsters legs and it soon fell.

The stranger returned and said the Warlock would not come herself now we had defeated her minion.  He said the curse was broken and asked for the crown, which we gave him.  He then told us he was from the court of the fairies and if we were willing he would bring other quests for us to help with.  He also told us we could keep the other crown as he knows gold is of great value in this world.

Having returns to Icehaven we received 200 gp reward for gathering herbs and then, throught a representative of Arden's father sold the crown getting us another 250gp each.  Enough for everyone to go to the blacksmiths for new equipment.
