WFRP Chapter 61: Our House

 

 

Background: Having assassinated Greeg we look for a way to forge ownership on some of his properties.

Chapter 61

Having left Morgan to use his magical powers to pretend he is Mr Greeg and start the rouse that he his selling his properties and fleeing town the rest of us return to Flendac's house to discuss our options.

We expect Silavan will want the wharf front as well as the manor house but decide on the mad plan to prevent him getting some of the other deeds.  We reason that Asterellion Leafglow at the artists colony may know a forger and we can exchange ownership of the colony to him while we get the bakery, Taverna Rosso (50% share), the Mill (25%) and return Petra Druge's house to her as we believed Greeg swindled it it away from her.

Flendac introduced Tayy to Asterellion the elf and he used his silver tounge to pursade them this was a good deal.  Flendac assured him that Greeg was not returning as his new profession was Assassin.  Hearing this Asterellion said he may have some work.  Flora, one of the artists, forged Greeg's signature which looked good on all the documents except the Taverna!  Unable to fix it we reasoned the only alternative would be to damage the document later.

One of the other Elves talked to Faefiel and offered her gold if she brought any information about stolen Elven artifacts to their attention as they did not trust the humans to do so.

Next day we headed to Wusterburg to give Silavan the severed head and collect the rest of the money he owned us for the assassination contract.  That night Flendac started giving Tayy some training in the arts if his career but was interrupted by the arrival of a large Orc warband.

They demanded all our goods but brave little Tayy stepped forward with the cheesecake he had prepared for everyone's supper and said that Margue the Orc liked this perhaps you would too?  The Orc Chieften ate the whole cake and then demanded more for troops.  Working hard Tayy used all his ingredients to make two more cakes and was able to give each of the Orcs and Goblins a single slice. Mork the Orc then agreed to let us all live and they departed into the night.

Reaching Silavan's house Flendac and Tayy went inside to talk to him.  He was pleased with his gift (the severed head) but when we then tried to sell him only three property deeds he got a bit upset.  He said if we gifted him the deeds he would consider us no longer in his debt.  Tayy went and fetched Ragnar (leaving Faefiel outside to reprot back should we all be murdered) and the three of us gave Silivan the deeds.  He also refused to pay us the gold for the contract kill.

Silavan then Introduced us to Malfoy who would be his new agent and asked if he could travel back to Kreutzhofen with us.  We of course agreed and spend the night at his house; all sharing one room to be on our guard.  The next day Tayy went shopping and found Faefiel and told her to head off and pretend to be a traveler we did not know and we would meet her on the road.

This was all going well until the same band of Orcs attacked us again at night! This time Flendac and Faefiel had set up some snare traps and we were alerted as three Goblins were hoisted into the air screaming.

The Orc Chief again demanded our our goods.  Malfoy was having none of this.  With a wave of his hand half the Orcs were overcome with an irresistible dance and anther two were turned to ash by a fireball.  Flendec charged into combat with the Goblins putting his new Assassin training to use with four swift blows quickly felling a couple of Goblins each time.  Faefiel used her enchanted crossbow to also kill some Gobilns while Tayy dived for cover and hid behind the log we had been using as a bench. Ragnar charge towards the Orc Shaman but was too slow....

The Shaman sent two blasts of lighting into the group the second of which killed Mallloy (double 14 damage) which release the other Orcs from their trance.  Poor Ragnar was now facing five opponents rather than just the one he expected!  He did is best to fend off the blows but could not hold back them all.  He staggered to his knees blood poring out of a head wound, his shield dropped from his useless left arm only able to parry.  It looked like the end for Ragnar but then Flendac, having killed all the Goblins with barley a scratch, arrived.

At this point Tayy joining in shooting an arrow that finished off one of the Orcs before it was able to stab Ragnar again.  The Orc Cheif dodged away from Flendac but had forgot about the dying Ragnar who stabbed him in the back and then with might back swing buried his axe in the Shamans chest killing him too.

Tayy ran over and fed Ragnar a potion he had found on Malfoy's body giving him the medical attention he needed.  Searching the bodies most of the magical items vaporized but Flendac did managed to get an amulet of Fireballs and Tayy ring of lifeforce (+1 Armour & +5 Wounds).  Burying Malfoy's body we made our way back to town.
