WFRP Chapter 68-69: About a Girl


Background: Travelling to Nuln, avoiding adventure on the River Soll.

Chapter 68

Stoppingin Heisenburg Donna visited an old friend with the rest of us tagging along for a break from the ship. Alannis the apothecary (her friend) was concerned about the disappearance of a novice of Shellya; Mutya Buena.  Given Donna's position in the Nuln Guard she was not able to investigate and asked us do her a favor.

Since the boat was not leaving until the evening we went on an hours journey to the temple of Shellya.  Given the temple was also an orphanage for young girls bringing them into the religious order.  We went in with the guise that Morgan was a rich noble looking for somewhere to send his illegitimate children.

High Priestess Keisha took Morgan on a tour.  While Ragar and Faefiel distracted the other priestesses Tayy burgled her office (lock pick skill is useful).  There he found some money, which he left, and a book recording donatation.  On the date of Mutya's disappearance there was an entry from the Dragon club marked "MB" and another entry for tonight.  In the draw was also a card for the Dragon Gentleman's club in Nuln.

Deciding there was clearly some sort of prostitution ring going on we updated Donna and Alannis on what we had found.  Unfortunatly our boat was leaving so there was no time to wait to se what would happen that evening.  Hopefully we can find out more about the gentleman's club when we get to Nuln.

Chapter 69

Having suffered damage in another storm we once again found ourselves looking for a room at an inn while repairs were carried out.  The Donkey was full so we went to the Beaver.  Once more there were a lot of shifty looking locals probably up to no no good.  Eager to get to Nuln and work on Morgan's training we ignore them all and went to bed.

The next morning at breakfast Faefiel was sitting next to a couple who were talking about sending their daughter to the temple of Shellya after the shame she had coursed.  Joining in she found that Heidi can been sleeping with thee stable boy!  Not wanting to have the poor lass follow Mutya she convinced the parents to let her take the girl on as a ward.  The parents having been impressed by Tayy talking about the various buinesses the group runs saw this as a good move and got a lawyer to draw up the paperwork.  The parents thought we were taking her directly back to Kreutshofen but in reality we continue on as planned to Nuln.

Death Zone 2020 - A Review

    Once again we have a beautifully produced full colour book that is slightly marred by the lack of proof reading.  Almost everything in the book is a reprint of the 2016 content updated to use the new team special rules.  There are little things such as Ranulf the Ref still having to "roll higher than the AV of the player" even though the main rule book changes AV 7 to be AV 8+ being everyone else is having to roll equal to AV.  Then we have the new Mercenary rules where the Elf starts with AG 2+ but can increase this by 2 to AG 0+ when AG 1+ is the max allowed!!? New Inducements This section takes all the inducements printed in the old Death Zone and Spike journals and updates them to use the new team special rules.  Instead of being taken by an Orc or Dwarf team they are now Badlands Brawl or Worlds Edge.  This expands which teams can take them.  Some of the inducements have had minor alterations and there are a couple I have not seen before. Arcane Trickster

The Arcane Trickster is my favourite sub-class in Fifth Edition D&D.  It is not the most powerful but is a lot of fun.   Trickster does not need to multi-class but a single level of Wizard gives a big boost with access to all first level spells, ritual casting and we can trade out our known spells for more Second Level options.  Best spot for multi-class is level six but if we have a game where we expect to spend a long time in Tier 1 we can also dip at level 2. Rogues get lots of choice for using a Bonus action and Reaction as we go up levels. Actions: Attack; (3) cast a spell Bonus: Off-hand Attack; (2) Dash; Disengage; Hide; Mage Hand; (13) Versatile Trickster Reaction: (4) Shield ; (5) Uncanny Dodge; (6) Feather Fall ; (17) Spell Thief A trickster wants good Dex and Int as well as Dark Vision, after all it is hard to sneak around carrying a torch.  If we are using point buy that gives us three choices in the PHB - High Elf, Half-Elf and Forest Gnome.
