WFRP The Perfect Warrior?

Image
I was looking at the various Warrior careers in WFRP and working out the best career route for maximizing our melee combat skills.  This is intended for Humans and Elves since Dwarves get their own personal advanced career in Giant Slayer and Hobbits should not be battle-masters given there terrible combat characteristics. WS, Str and Attacks give us the best damage output. Toughness, Wounds and Initiative improve our defense. Getting +2 / +30% is available in many careers but the final bonus to get +3 /+40% has a single advanced career available for most characteristics.  The notable exception is Toughness.  I prefer going with Duelist over Outlaw Chief for the additional mental characteristics as well as career exits. Starting careers are random but the advanced Careers we want form a nice circle letting us move around from any starting point.  I have rated the basic careers based on becoming the perfect warrior; some of them are a little better if you have other progression in mind.

WFRP Chapter 63: That's what friends are for

Image
Background: Disrupting chaos cults from monopolizing local trade... Our Heroes Morgan (David) - Human Battle-Mage Faefiel (Elliot) - Cold as ice Elven Targeteer Ragnar (Oliver) - Human Outlaw with a killer Axe Tayy Whitethorn (Michael) - Halfling businessman (and spy) Chapter 63 Having finished our business dealing we all return to the Black Eagle for a final drink.  This time Annalise asked Morgan to help save her new love interest Edmond Dantès.  Edmond offers Morgan, and his servant Tayy, a pair of magical liked rings.  Taking the rings we return to the mill with Edmond with the plan to take him to Dagmar the next day and get the contract the foolish man put out on himself cancelled. Playing around with the rings it turns out they allow the master ring to summon the wearer of the servant ring to his location.  There are some fun idea for getting Tayy into, or out of, situations but nothing immediately helpful. In the morning we traveled to Wierererg and, after almost fighting

Forge World Figures

Image
Each time I visited Warhammer World I had been picking up one of the Blood Bowl Star Players and with them now having free shipping ordered a few more.      Finally decided it was time to get them all built!  Mostly these are good quality design and fit together well.  I did need a bit of filler on Glart and one of Zolcath's arms.   Glart the fat rat. He sure has a lot of flash on him! He also has his own Warpstone ball. Zoat sure is a lot of resin (and a very high price) Summerbloom is a great thrower Sadly she also had a lot of flash on the tassels for her costume.   The Goblin Kontraptions fit, size wise, with the 3rd Edition Goblins. I have also put all the standard figures on the 25mm my teams are on. Having made the new figures all use 32mm bases we now have a star that only comes with a 40mm base! Why?

WFRP Chapter 62: Money, Money, Money

Image
Background: Making money in a fantasy economy.  While two chaos cults are, apparently, also joining together to monopolies local trade... Our Heroes Morgan (David) - Human Fire Wizard Faefiel (Elliot) - Cold as ice Elven Targeteer Tayy Whitethorn (Michael) - Halfling businessman (and spy) Chapter 62 Having used his cloak of illusions to convince the staff Greeg was selling his property and running away Morgan then left with a suitcase full of clothes.  He met up with Faefiel and Tayy back at his own house.  We decided to head out and see what money could be made with deeds we now possessed. Our first stop was to see Armand, also known as Mr Bun the Baker.  He was very keen to buy the property.  After a long discussion Tayy convinced him since we had paid 60 crowns, because that was what the paperwork showed, then a price of 70 crowns was what we needed to turn a profit.  He said he would need a couple of weeks to get the money together which we agreed was fine.  Since we had not

WFRP Chapter 61: Our House

Image
Background: Having assassinated Greeg we look for a way to forge ownership on some of his properties . Our Heroes Flendac (Kris) - Human Assassin Faefiel (Elliot) - Elven Targeteer Ragnar (Oliver) - Human Outlaw Tayy Whitethorn (Michael) - Halfling Cook (and spy) Chapter 61 Having left Morgan to use his magical powers to pretend he is Mr Greeg and start the rouse that he his selling his properties and fleeing town the rest of us return to Flendac's house to discuss our options. We expect Silavan will want the wharf front as well as the manor house but decide on the mad plan to prevent him getting some of the other deeds.  We reason that Asterellion Leafglow at the artists colony may know a forger and we can exchange ownership of the colony to him while we get the bakery, Taverna Rosso (50% share), the Mill (25%) and return Petra Druge's house to her as we believed Greeg swindled it it away from her. Flendac introduced Tayy to Asterellion the elf and he used his silver toun

Rift City Campaign - Chapter 46 May 2021

Image
Background A nostalgic dungeon delving game using the Moldvay Basic D&D rules which we have now been playing for over three years. It is an open table format game with who ever turns up heading into the dungeon making progress somewhat difficult as we keep going through the same rooms.  The game is currently socially distanced being playing using Discord. Chapter 46 Having come back from the caves with a load of magic items our mercenary company decided to go into the caves closer to the City to slay some Kobold's and work out what the items did.  Today's adventures were - Berg the Dwarven Warrior Halvor Templar of Yrt Inarra the artillery Wizard Kate (short for Bob) the Halfing Brigham Cleric of U'ta Gibbet Master Thief Some were easy to discover as just putting on the cloaks we had an invisible Templer and a bluring Wizard.  The rest needed actual combat for us to find out their properties.  Inarra trying using the censer and managed to summon an Air Elementa

WFRP Chapter 60: The day J F Greeg Died

Image
Background: Exploring the 'Old World' of Warhammer where the renaissance meets magic.  In Wissenland, where the Grey and Black mountains meet, sits the sleepy trading town of Kreutzhofen but nearby the minions of Chaos plot disruption. Our Heroes Morgan (David F.) - Fire Wizard Flendac (Kris) - Human Swords-master Faefiel (Elliot) - Elven Outlaw Ragnar (Oliver) - Human Bodyguard Tayy Whitethorn (Michael) - Halfling Cook Chapter 60 While sitting in the pub discussing our plans to assassinate Greeg the new watch commander Alberto Berterrelli arrived and introduced himself.  He mentioned that local dignatry Mr Greeg had hired some guards as he felt he was under threat from a chaos cult!  Oops perhaps taking that contract was not the best plan! To prepare we went shopping and Tayy was able to haggle with Rohit Sharma to get a discount on the two healing potion the apothecary had in stock. These turned out to be live savers later on!   On the return to the house we finalized
