WFRP Chapter 102: Breaking Point

Summary: Picking up pioneers as we travel north.

Chapter 102 ~ Moving North.
Having met up with the rest of our friends we decided to give up on going to Nuln and changed our plans.  The best way to travel to Ryazan looked to heading north to Talabheim and then taking the river to our final destination. Taking our new cart and horses we all headed north travelling through Vigaun and then on to Worden the following day.

Hear there were two inns the Lovely Inn and the Old Inn.  We got a room at the later but it was very expensive five crowns rather than the two we had paid the night before in Vigaun.  Talking with other patrons and we ate the poor quality stew they told us armed med had turned them away from the Lovely Inn and paid them come to this one.

Seeing an opportunity to gain some coins we wandered over to the other establishment.  Four armed men warned us off and paid us five crowns to go to the other inn.  Taking the cash and leaving we looped around to the other side.  Here Rubinifa and Tayy sneaked into the tavern while Gwyn and Zena earned another five crowns for not going any further!

Inside Tayy and Rubinfa had the best beer and pie they had eaten in ages.  The owner, Jason Walton, said he was having problems with Nathan Rothchild the owner of the other inn who wanted his daughters hand in marriage and she had refused.

Tayy made an offer for him to relocate his family and brewery business to Ryazan.  He was interested but wanted us to go and get the Countess, who was resting at the other inn, to talk about it more.

As we were leaving Rothchild and a dozen men arrived.  With Tayy hiding Rubinifa faced them alone. With bluff and brash candour he convinced Rothchild he would bring Elizabeth to him at dawn once he had explained the limited options to the family.  Rothchild and his men left promising to kill Rubinifa if he double crossed them (which is of course what he immediately did).

Returning inside he told Jason what had happened and the the family immediately packed up what they could carry and left the city.  Returning to the other inn we also left in the middle of the night.  Our two groups med up outside the city and we all hurried north travelling through the dark to Potting and then, having changed the horses, on to Tarshof.  Here we finally had to stop to get some rest as everyone was exhausted.  Would we be able to get to Talabheim before Rothchild, or Mitchell, found us?  Only time will tell...
