Chapter 56

Tayy was out buying flour to finish the morning baking when a gentleman asked if he knew where to find Morgan and Rubinifa.  Tayy directed him to the Black Eagle and was tipped a crown for doing so.  He had never met the gentleman before and therefore did not recognise Thomas Lamar (chaos cultist).

Meanwhile Silavan was at the Black Eagle berating Morgan for not having  convinced Greeg to sell property.  Silavan was also upset about the recent death of watchman.  He is from Wusterberg, the same location as the guards, and seemed involved with their shake down operation.

Morgan was just able to see Thomas Lamar walking towards the door as Silavan left.  This allowed him and Rubinifa to hide.  Thomas offered Ragnar and the barmaid 5 crowns for information about the others but they did not take the offer.

Later in the morning, after Tayy had joined his friends, the bounty hunter Sanna returned.  Seeing the group she told them to stay where they were and shouted outside for others to join her.  Doing the opposite everyone ran out the back! This resulted in them all being chased by Sanna and the watch.  Rubinifa used his cloak of concealment to evade the guards while the others split up and ran.

Morgan and Tayy went south but not being swift had to turn and fight.  It was not much of a fight as three fireballs roasted the two guardsman and it was over before a single blow was struck.  Circling back towards the docks they met an old acquaintance of Morgan's one Magnus Wolfclaw Witch Hunter who has been sent to help clean up the area with a writ putting in charge of the city guard.  Morgan and Tayy talked to him about the corruption in the guard.  They also mentioned Thomas Lamar may be a cultist but Magnus thought he was just an unfortunate businessmen who had some malcontents operating out of his warehouses.

Sanna chased after the other pair.  She shot Ragnar in the arm.  He surrendered allowing Faefiel to escape.  She led Ragnar away in chains.  Rubinifa saw them and followed behind.  He tried to bribe Sanna to release Ragnar but she wanted the full 50 gold the watch were offering.  Rubinifa was not willing to pay that much so pointing her crossbow at both of them she started to take them to the watch house.

On route they also met Magnus who recognised Rubinifa.  Some discussion later, and more mention of the corrupt watch resulted in Magnus taking custody of the pair and going back to the Black Eagle to get confirmation of the protection payments happening.  Once the staff had confirmed what was happening Magnus let the pair go so that Ragnar could be taken to a surgeon (he still had a bolt in his arm).  They were instructed to come to the watch house that afternoon to give a full statement.

After Magnus had left the other, who had been watching, snuck back into the pub where everyone started discussing idea for what to do.  Some discussion was had about planting the warpstone on Thomas Lamar or the watch captain Thomas Müller.  It was also though best to tell Magnus it was Gabriella's outlaws in the Winter's Teeth pass, not Dagmar's band, that were responsible.  Discussions continued while Ragnar rested to heal up.
