Chapter 87 ~ Destroy the Orcs

With the watch investigating the burning building we sneaked into Silavan's manor house through the secret entrance (we knew about this from when we had raided the house before).

Searching around we were ambushed by demons our nemesis had left guarding his residence.  Zena was overcome by fear but Tayy was able to drag her out of harms way while Rubinifa and Flendec finished off the monstrosities.

Upstairs we found Silavan's will.  Most of his goods go to Boris Becker in Nuln, but the docks were left to Flendac!  We had no clue why...

Needing a couple of days to recover from our wounds we spend a couple of days recovering in town.  Rubinifa and Sarah purchased the house next to Flendac.  Lt. Kurt von Strom, our contact in the watch, left us know they had concluded Silavan and the others died in a tragic accident when the building caught fire.  Sometimes incompetence and apathy are just what you want in the local constabulary.

Our company also visited Richard's Armoury.  They did not have much armour but had received a new shipment of magical goods.  Rubinifa purchase a ring of protection from goblinoids and amulet of righteous silver.  Madoc got robes of toughness [+1] and Tayy got a ring of Iron [+20%].  Zena picked up a cloak of disguise.

Walking to Serrig we saw a group of warriors on the south bank.  After a brief conversation where they mentioned their employer had died we were able to convince them we were reporting back to Boris Becker on the current state of the operation.  This convinced them to leave us alone.  We did not find Bronzino's Orc warband but got to Serrig where we, once agian, met Cpt Jameson.  She wanted protection from the bandits.  We agreed to spend one day hunting orcs and then travel with her.

Having spent the night in Serrig we returned to the woods.  Zena tried to use her cloak to confusing the Orc's into thinking she was Silavan but the Shaman saw through the disguise.  A giant foot of Gork stomped on her head (good job she had a protection ring) which kicked off the big battle.

Flendac charged in chopping down Goblins and fighting one of the Orc Champions.  His strange sword glowed; a pulsing energy sent waves of confusion into Flendac's mind and some of the Goblins.  He was able to battle through the effects and eventually hack down the champion and other Goblins.  Madoc helped finish a couple of them off.

Rubinfa went straight for Bronzino.  He just managed to kill the orc leader before his own magical sword was destroyed by the pulsing blasts of eldritch energy from his opponents blade.

Hayley and Tayy shot arrows at the Shaman who called on the foot of his god to stomp them.  Luckily they both jumped out of the way.  Several Orcs engaged the pair but with his boots of Speed Tayy was able to run around and engage the Shaman in melee.  The Shaman called upon the strength of his god and rained down a dozen powerful blows on the small, but tough, halfling.  Tayy stabbed the Shaman a couple of times but having now exhausted all his magic [42 Magic points by our count] he fled; flying away over the trees!

Easily finishing off the last few Goblins we gathered what we could.  A little money.  Magical leather armour that fit Tayy [+4 AP]; Flendac got the sword of confusion as a backup weapon and Rubinifa was able to recover Sarah's powerful crossbow.  Hayley and Zena both tried to attune to the other sword but it was too unstable and vaporized.

Bloody and battered we staggered back to Serrig.  Tomorrow we should be sailing with Cpt Jameson but most of us may not be in a condition to do that safely.
